This week:

10-12 Camp at Bryn-y-groes, Bala
10-12 Camp at Bryntirion, Bridgend 19-26th July
2nd-9th August

This is the quietest week of the EMW Camps Summer with just one camp occuring at Bryn-y-groes, Bala. My observations on visiting are below as well as Andrew Rees' brief report from his camp last week.

10-12 Camp at Bryn-y-groes, Bala

10-12 Camp at Bryn-y-groes, Bala

James Thackeray and Helen Lockwood are leading this camp for the first time and Graham John is chaplain.

The most striking thing as I walked into the meeting room was the gender imbalance on this camp. Boys were outnumbered 4-1 by girls. Not surprisingly craft was very popular in the various options on offer later in the morning (fridge magnets created shown in the picture). The few male campers were able to beat the male officers in the football match with a little bit of help from a visitor. Also a very competitive golfing competition was underway with the leader getting round the course in a superb 7 under par!

Graham John was preaching on people who had been changed by the Gospel. I heard him speak on the Ethipion Eunuch. A man looking for God and God looking for a man were his two points. In the Bible Studies they are looking at the theme of repentance and some of the boys have asked their dorm officers to pray that they might know true repentance.

The team of officers is fairly new but were working really well together and the children were clearly very settled and enjoying all that was going on. The atmosphere at the meal table was lovely, with lots of laughter, chanting and happy conversation.

The Moose of the Week award (given for acts of great folly) is currently held by the leader who left their sunroof open in a thunderstorm and had some serious puddles inside the car.

Please continue to pray for safety, the Spirit's working through the Word and the fruit of changed lives.

10-12 Camp at Bryntirion, Bridgend 19-26th July

Andrew Rees asks us to join in praise to God for a good officer team that worked well together, clear bible preaching and effective dorm studies and a spell of good weather.

He asks that we pray that the word may impact the lives of the children to the glory of God.

2nd-9th August

After our quietest week of the Summer we have our busiest with three camps starting on Saturday.

Dave Roberts and Karen McCarthy are leading the 13-15 camp at Bryn-y-groes, Bala and Martin Williams is the chaplain.

Glyn Ellis and Helen Hughes are leading the 16-18 camp at Quinta and Tony Seager is the chaplain.

James Williams and Lianne Jones are leading the 10-12 camp at Bryntirion and Ed Collier is the chaplain.

Thank you for your prayers and partnership in this wonderful gospel work

Paul Gamston, Chairman of the English Camps Committee
